Overview
The English (Top-up) program at Qingdao City University was established in 2019. Rooted in the context of the New Liberal Arts initiative, the program serves both national strategies and regional economic and social development needs. It aims to cultivate high-caliber, application-oriented English talents who are well-adapted to the transformations of the digital and intelligent age. Building on the solid language skills students have acquired during their college (associate degree) studies, the program places a strong emphasis on optimizing their knowledge structure, enhancing their critical thinking skills, and deepening their humanities education.
In response to the new ecosystem where artificial intelligence is deeply reshaping education, translation, and international communication, the program adheres to an integrated positioning of "linguistic excellence + technology empowerment + cross-cultural competence." The curriculum not only includes core courses in advanced English language and literature but also integrates modular pathways in areas such as international business, educational management, and digital media. The focus is on facilitating a transition from "language skill-oriented" to "professionally applied" and "internationally versatile" competence.
Through two years of systematic training, students will develop a solid command of the English language, a broad international perspective, strong cross-cultural communication skills, and the ability to leverage modern information technology to solve professional problems. Graduates are expected to become innovative and versatile professionals capable of engaging in teaching, translation, management, and research in fields such as education, international business and trade, culture, and foreign affairs.
