Overview
The German Program of the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) is a four-year undergraduate degree within the discipline of Foreign Languages and Literature, founded in 2010. Based on the educational philosophy of "Interdisciplinary Integration, Cultural Diversity, Rooted in the City, Serving the World", the program has developed a mature international applied talent training system.
Supported by a curriculum system featuring autonomy, openness, inclusiveness and practicality, it achieves the two-way collaborative development of "Understanding Germany" and "Communicating China". With a focus on international application orientation, it builds practice platforms connecting classroom and workplace. It promotes the integrated model of "German + Digital Intelligence" to meet the needs of smart city and digital development.
The program strives to cultivate international applied German professionals capable of international communication and language services in foreign affairs, economy and trade, culture, education and other fields.
The program currently has 5 full-time teachers, all of whom have overseas study experience and industry practice experience. They have years of experience in exploring and practicing the training of applied German talents and once won the third place in the College German Group of the FLTRP "Star Teacher" Competition. The passing rate of the Test for German Majors Band 4 (PGG 4) of students over the years has been among the top of similar universities in the country, and many students are admitted to well-known universities at home and abroad for further study every year.
In addition, the characteristics of internationalized school running have become increasingly prominent. At present, the German program has established international exchanges and cooperation with many well-known German universities, including the Munich University of Applied Languages (SDI) and the University of Kassel. It also provides the German-Chinese Au Pair program and summer international exchange opportunities, creating an international learning environment for students and broadening their international horizons.

Message from the Programme Director
"Within the European-style Ninth Teaching Building, by the shores of West Lake bathed in dawn's glow or evening mist, embark on a transcendent encounter with Germany. Let us study German and English together, read Goethe's masterpieces, listen to classical music, contemplate ancient philosophy, savour fine cuisine and wine, discuss football and automobiles, broaden our international horizons, and cultivate a profound sense of national pride."
