Urban and Rural Planning

Overview

The Urban and Rural Planning program is dedicated to sustainable development, with a focus on the urban and rural environment. By integrating interdisciplinary knowledge from engineering, science, and management, the program seeks to guide the efficient allocation and dynamic control of resources through planning, public policy, and construction management. It aims to cultivate high-quality, application-oriented professionals equipped with a global perspective, a deep understanding of China's context, a regional focus, and cutting-edge expertise. The program emphasizes practical engineering applications and addresses the increasing demand for skilled urban and rural planners. Graduates will be equipped with the skills needed to meet national urban and rural development and land space planning needs, combining urban and rural planning design capabilities with smart city planning technologies.

Why choose urban and rural planning?

  • Promising Development Prospects: As a core discipline in China's land and space planning, this program is committed to addressing practical issues in the development of urban and rural living environments. It plays a vital role in supporting the country's urban and rural construction and development, carrying significant responsibilities in national socioeconomic development.
  • Innovative Talent Development Model: The program follows a "student-centered, competence-oriented" approach to talent cultivation. It tailors its curriculum and vocational training to societal needs, adopting a "classified training, teaching according to individual needs" approach. The program actively leverages industry-university partnerships to enhance practical skills, while focusing on students' learning experience and personal development. It also nurtures students' cognitive skills in planning, professional competence, innovative thinking, and communication and coordination abilities.
  • Diverse Talent Development Features: The program collaborates with multiple off-campus practice bases for teaching, adhering to an integrated production-education model and strengthening hands-on training. A diverse curriculum system is designed according to industry development demands, emphasizing the enhancement of students' multidisciplinary abilities and personal qualities.
  • Strong Faculty Team: Several faculty members hold prestigious national certifications, including the first-class National Registered Architect and National Registered Urban and Rural Planner qualifications. In recent years, we have introduced multiple faculty members with international backgrounds, including returnee PhD holders. Additionally, several senior architects and planners with rich engineering practice experience, both domestic and abroad, have been appointed as part-time professors, continually strengthening and expanding our teaching team.
  • Well-Equipped Facilities: The program boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including architectural model labs, carpentry construction labs, masonry and concrete labs, BIM labs, and 3D printing labs, providing an excellent environment for both teaching and experimentation. We have established "production internship bases" with several renowned design institutes, creating a comprehensive teaching model that effectively integrates research and teaching, as well as design practice and education.
